DAD DAY 2009 Celebrations at CDA Bangalore

DEFENCE ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT DAY – 1st OCTOBER 2009


Defence Accounts Department with more than 259 years of its existence is one of the oldest departments of Government of India rendering silent but invaluable service to the cause of the Nation by serving the services and also auditing about 1.5 lakh crores of Defence outlay.


Every year 1st October is celebrated as the annual day of the Defence Accounts Department – the raising day of the department. This year we will complete 58 years of this landmark event in the history of our department. CDA, Bangalore with its main office in Bangalore and serving through 40 odd sub offices spread across Karnataka & Goa is celebrating the DAD Day today i.e. 1st October 09. Hon’ble Justice Mr. N. Santosh Hegde, Lokayukta, Government of Karnataka has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest on the occasion.


The Controller of Defence Account Shri Sudhansu Mohanty in his welcome address expressed gratitude to Justice Mr Santosh Hegde for gracing the occasion. During his address CDA stated that despite achieving 98 to 99 % E-Payment target of third party payments in order to enhance customer satisfaction it is contemplated to upload the status of all bills received in the office on CDA website, so that the status of bills may be viewed by the individual user. This enables us to reach out, enhance customer satisfaction and also ensure transparency in deliverance.

Justice Mr Santosh Hegde in his address emphasized on the key issue of corruption prevailing amongst a large section of elected representatives the impact of same on executives and judiciary. Unless a revolution opposing this dangerous trend is ignited the 85% of budget allocated to various hundreds of scheme will not reach the downtrodden. Mahatma Gandhi visualized administration to be taken to the door step of the people instead it is corruption and politics which has headed to the grass roots.

In order to celebrate the event in a befitting manner, several events were organized to commemorate the occasion. Shram Dham – free heart checkup camp by Manipal Hospital, Bangalore was organized and conducted for all officers/staff on 24th & 25th of September. A voluntary blood donation camp was also organized simultaneously on 24th. In addition, several sporting events and various cultural programmes were also organized.
